Student Life

Welcome! We are excited to welcome you to the Department of Nuclear Engineering. Our friendly, supportive environment and world class facilities are located in the beautiful city of Raleigh (#1 Best City To Live in for Young Professionals). Continue scrolling through to virtually see the quality of our people and our high impact research. We also congratulate you on admission – you are an elite group of students and we want you to join us!

The student experience starts in the lab and the classroom, but it also encompasses entrepreneurial, cultural and social experiences outside academics. With more than 600 student organizations on campus — 60 of them connected to engineering — you’ll find your place and develop life-long friendships, nurture bonds with peers from around the world and discover new passions through exploration outside of your class schedule.

American Nuclear Society (ANS)

NCSU’s student chapter of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) organizes activities that include outreach to local schools, social events, and department festivities. The core purpose of ANS is to promote the awareness and understanding of the application of nuclear science and technology.

Women in Nuclear (WIN)

Women in Nuclear Student Chapter at NC State is an organization where students in nuclear engineering or related fields engage youth, especially young females, to explore and possibly join the nuclear community. Students volunteer in school events and community outreach. The organization is open to both males and females.
