Luke Caffarey

Undergraduate Researcher

About:
Luke Caffarey is a first year student majoring in Nuclear Engineering at North Carolina State University. His academic journey reflects a strong passion for nuclear engineering, energy systems, and their economic impacts.

Current Projects:
Luke is currently working on the project “Analysis of Impurity Powder Dropper Feedback Controller Latency in KSTAR with Spectroscopy and Visual Data”. His research involves analyzing system latency in fusion plasma control, using OMFIT and Python to process spectroscopy and visual data. This work contributes to a broader effort to optimize impurity injection methods for improved plasma stability and performance in fusion reactors.

Outside the Lab:
Whenever not on NC State campus, Luke enjoys leading backpacking club trips, rowing, and watching the NCSU women’s basketball team with his parents. Go Trygger!
