Melody is working towards her PhD in Nuclear Engineering with first a Masters of Nuclear Engineering under the advisory of Dr. Hayes. Her research interests involve nuclear security and retrospective dosimetry applications. Melody has previously worked as staff in NC State’s Department of Nuclear Engineering for work supported by the DOE, and she has engaged in research under the advisement of Dr. Tomita involving developments for a cavity ring-down laser spectroscopy system for tritiated water analysis while in Japan.

Previously, Melody performed undergraduate research at UNC under Dr. Lopez in the Nanoscale Optical Materials Lab, and has worked as a Data, Analytic, and Insights intern at CAS (Chemical Abstract Services – A Division of the American Chemical Society). Additionally, Melody has former experiences working in psychology research under Dr. Neupert, Dr. McLaughlin, Dr. Feng, and Dr. Foster at NC State.
