U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced that it has selected X-energy to receive an initial $80 million awarded through the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP) to build a four-module Xe-100 nuclear power plant that can be operational within seven years.
Under the NCSU‘s subaward, Dr. Mihai A. Diaconeasa of the PRA Group will support X-energy’s efforts by leading the Xe-100 PRA model development to support the design and licensing activities. In this work, we will follow the licensing modernization project (LMP) process defined in NEI 18-04 and endorsed by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in RG 1.233.
