The Jackson Rigney International Service Award at NC State University honors a faculty or staff member for distinguished contributions in promoting international understanding and service to the university and the global community throughout their career.
Dr. Maria Avramova, Professor of Nuclear Engineering, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Jackson Rigney International Service Award. She was previously awarded the 2022 Outstanding Global Engagement Award from NC State University.
Presented by the Office of Global Engagement, this award recognizes Dr. Avramova’s exceptional international achievements, including her leadership in the Consortium for Nuclear Power (CNP), the COBRA-TF (CTF) User’s Group, and expert participation in international programs and working groups within the OECD/NEA and the IAEA focused on code development, validation, and benchmarking. Her service also includes bilateral collaborations involving Centers of Excellence; organizing and participating in international schools, workshops, and courses; and fostering the exchange of scholars and students through global meetings, conferences, and seminars.
Dr. Avramova’s extensive international engagement has brought significant recognition to the Department of Nuclear Engineering, the College of Engineering, and NC State University.
