NE featured in Argonne Leadership Computing Facility Newsletter

April 9, 2018

Nuclear Engineering Professor, Dr. Igor Bolotnov, has been featured in Argonne Leadership Computing Facility newsletter article, The Science of Bubbles. Dr. Bolotnov is working to better understand boiling phenomena, bubble formation, and two-phase bubbly flow inside of nuclear reactors, which rely on water/steam conversion to produce energy.

He is currently leading the Multiphase Research Group at NCSU, which focuses on using multiscale approaches for nuclear reactor simulations, development of new spectral cascade transfer multiphase flow turbulence models, and direct numerical simulation of single and multiphase turbulent flows.
