They were authored by\u00a0Dr. Jun Fang (PhD in 2016), Dr. Mengnan Li (PhD in 2019) as well as current doctoral students Joseph Cambareri, Nadish Saini and Matthew Zimmer. In addition, Dr. Jun Fang presented an invited lecture on \u201cInterface Tracking Simulations of Gas-Liquid Two-phase Flows\u201d during the conference workshop on turbulence modeling.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>Matthew Zimmer was selected as 1 of 3 recipients of the conference\u2019s Young Professional Award. This award is based on technical merits of the paper and is awarded to authors who qualify as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ymg.ans.org\/membership\/guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/ymg.ans.org\/membership\/guidelines\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1576774181359000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGWPFm48VNqr1U2gHzP4DeOIgwvlw\">American Nuclear Society (ANS) young members<\/a>. It was entitled \u201cExploring two-phase flow regime transition mechanisms using high resolution virtual experiments\u201d.<\/div>\n<div>Approximately 15% of the best papers in the conference proceedings will be published in special issues of leading nuclear engineering journals. This year, all 5 contributions co-authored by Dr. Bolotnov received this prestigious publishing invitation. This honor continues the tradition of excellence in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ne.ncsu.edu\/multiphase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/ne.ncsu.edu\/multiphase\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1576774181359000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF1iijtInLZ9YwkrK5uLQyYKjNIvg\">thermal-hydraulics research at NC State University<\/a>, and in particular, NURETH participation. At NURETH-17 in Xi\u2019an China, 3 of the 3 papers from the multiphase research group were invited for journal publication.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>During the next year, 2 invited papers will be published in the peer-reviewed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/action\/journalInformation?journalCode=unse20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/action\/journalInformation?journalCode%3Dunse20&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1576774181359000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEEd0APwj327gXeZjUfIpcj-48rYA\">Nuclear Science and Engineering<\/a>\u00a0\u2013<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cAnnular Flow Simulation Supported by Iterative In-Memory Mesh Adaptation\u201d by J. Fang, C. Smith, I.A. Bolotnov, R. Balakrishnan, K.E. Jansen<\/li>\n<li>\u201cExploring two-phase flow regime transition mechanisms using high resolution virtual experiments\u201d by M.D. Zimmer and I.A. Bolotnov<\/li>\n<li>\u201cInterface Tracking Simulations of Bubble Population Effects in PWR Subchannels\u201d by J.J.\u00a0Cambareri and I.A. Bolotnov<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>NURETH is the premier research meeting for nuclear thermal-hydraulics and is co-sponsored by the American Nuclear Society (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ans.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.ans.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1576774181359000&amp;usg=AFQjCNH7oEd7C2XRj02VGGGM_AECXeoxYg\">ANS<\/a>). It was established in 1980 and is held every 2 years alternating between North America, Europe and Asia.
