Background
Selina completed her bachelor’s and master’s studies in Chemistry at Technische Universität Dresden, focusing on radiochemistry. During her senior undergraduate year, Selina joined Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), a renowned nuclear research center in Germany, where she worked on a project investigating the immobilization of actinides from spent nuclear fuel in ceramic matrices for final disposal. Her undergraduate work resulted in a first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal. During her master’s studies, she was awarded the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Following the completion of her master’s, Selina went on to intern at the European Synchroton Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France, where she studied nuclear materials using X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
