Two Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research (CINR) Awards for Dr. Lingfeng He

Dr. Lingfeng He received two Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research (CINR) awards to investigate the performance of advanced nuclear materials in reactor environments. The awarded R&D funding is $1.1M for each project. He services as the principal investigator (PI) for both projects. Thanks to the Office of Nuclear Energy, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the financial support.

FY 2024 Nuclear Science User Facilities (NSUF) Joint R&D and Access Award

Dr. Lingfeng He received FY 2024 NSUF Joint R&D and Access award by the Office of Nuclear Energy, U.S. Department of Energy. The proposal titled is “Radiation Effects of High Entropy Alloys“. The objective of project is to gain a comprehensive understanding of neutron radiation damage at early stage and its impact on the mechanical deformation of high entropy alloys (HEAs) by employing a combination of mechanical testing, state-of-the-art microstructural characterization, and advanced modeling techniques. The collaborators for this project are:

  • Wen Jiang, NC State University
  • Joseph Newkirk & Joseph Graham, Missouri University of Science and Technology
  • Jason Schulthess & Boopathy Kombaiah, Idaho National Laboratory (INL)

FY 2024 Nuclear Energy University Program (NEUP) Award

He also received FY 2024 Nuclear Energy University Program (NEUP) award by the Office of Nuclear Energy, U.S. Department of Energy. The proposal titled is “Assessing Molten Salt Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steel 316H in Nuclear Reactor Environments“. The proposed goal is to leverage a blend of innovative molten salt corrosion experiments and cutting-edge characterization techniques to advance our understanding of molten salt corrosion in both commercial and additively manufactured (AM) stainless steel (SS) 316H, particularly under radiation or stress environments. The collaborators for this project are:

  • Ayman Hawari, NC State University
  • James Earthman, University of California Irvine (UCI)
  • Laura Hawkins, Idaho National Laboratory (INL)
  • Xuan Zhang, Argonne National Laboratory (ANL)

Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Lingfeng He for the awards!
