We <span style=\"font-family: UniversRoman, arial, sans-serif\"><b>champion <\/b><\/span>student interests, <strong data-start=\"384\" data-end=\"396\">organize<\/strong> professional and social events, and <strong data-start=\"433\" data-end=\"442\">serve<\/strong> as a bridge between students, faculty, and administration.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"505\" data-end=\"941\">NC State\u2019s Nuclear Engineering Department has a rich history as the <strong data-start=\"577\" data-end=\"629\">oldest nuclear engineering program in the nation<\/strong>, home to the <strong>first university-operated reactor<\/strong> and training program. Today, we are the <strong data-start=\"721\" data-end=\"732\">largest<\/strong> nuclear engineering department in the country, with <strong data-start=\"785\" data-end=\"867\">28 faculty, over 180 graduate students, and a similar number of undergraduates<\/strong>.
