Biography

David Pointer (PhD, NE, University of Tennessee, 2001) is the Section Head for Advanced Reactor Engineering and Development in the Nuclear Energy and Fuel Cycle Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) where he leads a diverse team of experts in R&D activities supporting accelerated deployment of new nuclear energy technologies. He has previously served as the Deputy Lead for Thermal Hydraulics Methods in the Consortium for Advanced Simulation of Light Water Reactors or CASL, and as the Technical Integrator for the Nuclear Energy Advanced Modeling and Simulation program or NEAMS.
