Abstract
The presentation will focus on numerical methods development in nuclear thermal-hydraulics two-phase flow simulations. It will cover introduction to numerical methods in existing computer codes, their advantages and disadvantages, and current development in advanced numerical methods, their potentials and challenges. The presentation will also cover the topic on numerical uncertainties in two-phase flow simulations, and their roles in a bigger picture of BEPU (best-estimate plus uncertainty) and RISMC (risk informed safety margin characterization).
Biography
Dr. Ling Zou is currently a senior staff scientist at Idaho National Laboratory. He obtained his bachelor degree from Department of Engineering Physics at Tsinghua University in 2000 and PhD degree from Department of Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010. Currently, Dr. Ling Zou’s main research interests include numerical methods development in two-phase flow simulations, numerical and model uncertainty quantification in two-phase flow simulations, nuclear reactor safety analysis, and system analysis code development.
